Ephemural(IPA(key) /ɪ'fɛməɹəl/), also known as Neutral(IPA(key) /ˈnjuwtɹəl/), is a demigod and one of the antagonists in Twokinds. Like all the other demigods, she is the caretaker of a specific race, hers being the Keidran. Ephemural is the cause of Trace's amnesia.
Additionally, she took control of Mary Silverlock for quite some time on the grounds that she'll give Mary her humanity back and that she'll be delivered to Flora.
Ephemural has, so far, appeared very few times throughout the comic. She was first seen in the first few pages of Chapter 1, where she had apparently disguised herself as a bandit in order to draw Trace and Flora towards each other, so they could meet. She appeared once more in Chapter 6, where she used her powers of illusion to create a false village in which she staged an attack on Trace using Flora as a puppet. As a result, Trace found a mental bond with Flora, and freed her from Ephemural's control, "destroying" the Mask in the process. This resulted in them truly falling in love together, which was revealed to be a severe detriment to her plan, as in Chapter 7, the Pro-Human Mask, likely Chaos, taunts her for failing to accomplish her objective. When faced with the possibility of Chaos(?) overwhelming the Keidran, resulting in Ephemural's ultimate defeat and extinction, she improvises, and reveals that there is a race that she has not allowed for "many, many years." since she believes she has no other choice than to do so, she allows Trace and Flora to develop their relationship, and allows Flora to become pregnant with Trace's child. At the end of her conversation with Chaos(?), neither she nor any of the other Masks appear again, at least so far, in the comic.

Despite Trace Legacy being said to be one of the most powerful persons in the entire comic (before amnesia), Ephemural was still able to somehow take away his memories and give him amnesia, and she didn't seem to be harmed when Trace woke up. This implies Ephemural has excellent stealth related skills and her magic is able to bypass even Trace's cursed power, whatever defenses he had back when he was the Grand Templar.
