Mekkan (IPA(key) /ˈmɛ.kn̩/) is the world that the comic takes place in, the official map was made during the time Chapter 14 was being published, it appears to be much smaller than our world by comparison. It is described as containing vast and ever changing landscapes, serving as home to the three races.[1] Though many locations are not shown in the comic, the blue line on the map on the map showing Trace's journey from Prologue to Chapter 14. As of the current chapter the group have only traveled as far as the harbour town close to Tiger territory as seen on the map and a little further inland to the Legacy Estate. All events from the Prologue to the present day of the Main Comic have all taken place within the year 482.

Territories[]

  • The Human and their Kingdom have possession of the most territory, primarily ruling over the the north-east, south and central parts of the central landmass, while the Keidran clans border around the Human territory.
  • The Border Forest Tribe (Wolf Keidran), own the most land out of all other Keidran species, they live in many settlements throughout their heavily wooded lands in the west.
  • The Snow Wolves are a largely unexplored race and their territory is largely unknown due to the course if the story taking place far away. So little is known about them that they do not even have a title for what kind of tribe or clan they may have. The only native Snow Wolf Keidran featured in the comics are Euchre, Roselyn, though neither of them are confirmed to have lived in the homeland itself. From flashbacks seen between the two they appear to be in a climate more akin to Forest Wolf territory or possibly in the south of Snow Wolf territory which would still but them far away from their main civilisation. According to the map Snow Wolf Keirdran live in the north-western area of the mainland, it can be assumed that their territory is largely unknown to Humans due to the large mountain range separating them. Their territory appears to largely flat and snow covered to the northern most points but also forested to the western most point. Overall it appears that the Snow Wolves own the second largest amount of territory out of all Keirdran species, only just beaten by their southern counterparts, though they are the only Keidran race to have an official city which makes it seem as though they are slightly more organized.
  • The Costal Fox Clan (Fox Keidran) own the smallest amount of land out of all the Keidran species, they are only bordered by the Dogs and located in on the furthest point south-west of the mainland. Their territory is largely unexplored and the sight of Foxes are quite rare elsewhere but from the map it appears they live in mostly flat land.
  • The Dog Clan (Dog Keidran) are included in the Forest Wolf territory the first map, they largely inhabit the southern Forerst Wolf territory creating a wedge between them and the Foxes. The Dog Keidran are apparently quite close with the Humans and partake in slavery deals with then often by selling captured Fox Keidran that only they have access too, though many Humans still group them in with the Forest Wolves.
  • The Tiger Clans/Tiger Nomads (Tiger Keidran) are largely nomadic in culture, evidenced by their few amounts of settlements. They own the second smallest amount of land out of all Keidran and are located in the south-eastern most point of the mainland. According to the map it appears that Tiger lands are largely covered in forest.
  • Snow Leopard Keidran are a strange exception, they were introduced in Chapter 18 after the creation of the official map. Form information gathered in the comic it appears that they no longer exist in one area as a society due to being hunted by Humans for their pelts and now their descendants can be found dotted across other lands. Going by the fact wolves appear to live in the west with their snow counterparts to the north, and cats appearing in the east with their northern areas conquered by the Humans it can be assumed that perhaps Snow Leopard Keidran used to live in the north-east.
  • Basitin reside on an island far off the mainland to the south, their island is split by a mountain range diving them into Eastern and Western Basitin. Although it is shown that Western Basitin have a city it is stated multiple times that they have a tribal culture so the actual state of this city compared to a typical city is debatable. Eastern Basitn are far more advanced and their city is much closer to an actual city. As seen on the map the Bastadian Isle does have a mountain range, the concept of Northern Basitin was shown in the Side Sketches on a few occasions where they may live in said mountains, though this is likely non-canon.

Specific Locations[]

  • The most northern settlement of any race in the Snow Wolf village of Snowhill, the Snow Wolves also hold the title of second and third most northern settlements with their capital, Castle Heywood, and Pinehill village respectively.
  • As mentioned above the Snow Wolf capital is Castle Heywood, the only Keidran city. The proximity to the Human territory nearby as well as Human controlled Northwick Traders outpost, along with evidence that Humans have a foothold in Snow Wolf territory in the form of Ditteridge town, may suggest the Humans helped the Snow Wolves grow their society and introduced technological advancements that have allowed them to triumph over other Keidran species.
  • Their are several documented ruins of Human towns littered across their large territory, whether these ruins were destroyed by Keidran is unknown but unlikely in every case. The following large destroyed locations include: the remains of Wolfwatch Tower and the Timber Ruins near the western Human-Wolf Border, the northernmost Whitefeild Ruins near the Human-Snow Wolf Border and finally the ruins of Marsh Hill and Old Morlin deep within southeastern territory closest to the Tiger lands.
  • The Templar have several towers and colleges across southern Human territory in the towns of Hemming Sted, Edinmire and South Leighton aswell as a prototype tower on the Eastern Basitin Islands, but that tower has since been destroyed. Their largest collage is located west outside of South Leighton and north of the destroyed village of Pinewood, this is likely where most Templar are trained.
  • The Human castle/capital is located at Morlin Hall in eastern Human lands closest to the Human-Tiger Border where the King would reside. The Templar also have their headquarters located nearby as well.
