Karen Taverndatter(IPA(key) /ˈkɛrən ˈtævərnˌdætər/) a female Human and the younger sister of Maren Taverndatter. She has worked under her older sister much of her life, helping to run their family inn in the village of Pinewood after their father's death when they were young. A little while before the events of the main comic she annoyed Maren's new boyfriend Trace, who also happened to be the current Grand Templar, so much that he cursed her to grow a pair of Keidran ears permanently. The curse that Trace placed upon Karen as a means of punishment seems to have backfired because Karen actually loves her new ears.
After a raid by the Border Wolf Tribe Keidran on her hometown Karen was forced to flee with Maren and their friends Red and Raine. Currently her plans are not exactly clear however she seems to want to follow her sister and many others of the main cast to the hidden village of Lyn'Knol to finally live in peace again.
"Karen is outgoing and excited; she hates being bored and will go out of her way to make things interesting."
Biography[]
"Karen is the hyperactive younger of the Taverndatter sisters. She doesn't care about races or wars or religions. She just enjoys interesting stuff, and if nothing interesting is happening, she tends to cause it. Karen's extra set of Keidran ears were given to her as a curse by Trace[2], whom she was annoying. The curse backfired, however, when Karen decided she loved the ears and wanted to keep them."
Appearance[]
Karen is a fairly short girl, one of the shortest in the cast in fact minus Maddie. She has short green hair and green eyes along with fairly dark tanned skin, naturally so as well though she spends more time outside than her sister Maren who is much lighter than her. Karen also has brown Keidran ears, roughly the same color as her skin, maybe a bit darker.
Her usual attire when working at the tavern was a pink maids dress, similar to her sister's. Since leaving her village, she is dressed in an all brown outfit until getting to Trace's estate where the shirt turns green, both being a little too big for her as they slip off her shoulder.
Karen is the complete polar opposite of her sister. Where as Maren is very bossy and emotionally distant, Karen is more boisterous and carefree. While Maren is serious and matter-of-fact, Karen is a total wildcard. Karen finds joy in a lot of things, even very serious things like a Keidran raid. When her home was being attacked by Wolf Keidran, she reacted with joy at something interesting finally happening. When Team B was caught by some Wolves trying to escape with the help of Sythe, she lied and told them she was his daughter, angering the wolves into attacking simply because it was fun and to keep Sythe in the group with them.
She is shown to be kind and compassionate to, sticking up for Sythe that same day and wanting to work together for their mutual survival. She also gives Maddie a hug and consoles her when she is crying in Trace's estate. Karen overall is still a kid, wishing for adventure and excitement and enjoys every second of it, dangerous or not.

Trivia[]
Karen's unusual Keidran ears are a result of Trace Legacy. She had annoyed him and he gave her the ears as a failed punishment as she quickly took a liking to them.
She still has her human ears. Tom himself admits that even though she does still have her human ears, he's been drawing them less and less cause he finds it weird for her to have both Human and Keidran ears.
Karen is one of the three child characters featured in the present day of the Main Comic, the other two being Madelyn Adelaide and Maeve. Although many of the Keidran characters in the comic are aged between 10-15 in Human years they are in fact adult Keidran.
